Summer activities around Gästehaus Pernull

Are you curious about what there is to do around our accommodation in the summer? Well sit down for it, because there are plenty of activities for young and old.

When you think of Austria, you naturally think of snowy mountains and winter sports, but it is also a great place to be in the summer months. Because our Gästehaus is close to the Italian border, we have a more stable climate here than the somewhat more northern parts of Austria. This means that the sun often shines here and you can fully enjoy the wonderful mountain lakes that surround us.

But besides lazing by the water, there is much more to experience around Pernull. Enjoy a delicious breakfast on the Eggeralm, go rafting or river tubing on the Gail, walk the Weissenbachklamm, go climbing, visit Monte Lusari in Italy, cycle part of the Alpe Adria rent an e-boat on the Weissensee, go day trip to Klagenfurt with the highest wooden viewing tower in the world (Pyramidekogel), etc.

Weissensee

A skating tour is traditionally organized on the Weissensee in winter, which you can compare to the Dutch Elfstedentocht. But this mountain lake is also very nice to visit in the summer, for example you can take a boat trip or rent an e-boat. But diving is also possible here, you can arrange your equipment and a guide through the local diving school.

Hermagor

Pay a visit to the cozy center of Hermagor and make sure to stop at Konditorei Semmelrock. There you can enjoy delicious pastries and top quality coffee, really worth it. Your mouth is already watering when you visit their website . You will also find cozy shops and restaurants in Hermagor and a little further you can visit the Gailtaler Heimatmuseum in Möderndorf. There you will also find a petrified tree, a natural phenomenon that you will not see again soon.

Also visit Schloss Lerchenhof near Hermagor, where you can enjoy a delicious meal in the beautiful garden that is prepared with its own products, the meat, vegetables and herbs all come from their own company.

Walks

You can take countless walks in the immediate vicinity of our Gästehaus. Do you want a flatter route or can it contain some ascents and descents? There are options here for every runner. For example, choose the beautiful and easy walk of 5.5 km (slow trail) around the Presseggersee. Are you an experienced walker? Then go over the tops of the mountains, such as the Oisternik, Dobratsch, Trogkofel or Gartnerkofel. There is something for everyone.

The Garnitzenklamm

You should not miss the Garnitzenklamm, a beautiful walk that is divided into 4 parts. You can choose whether you walk one or more parts, if you do all 4 you will be on the road for about 5.5 hours. During the climb you will be surprised by a beautiful natural spectacle, you will see the most beautiful colors that nature has to offer, you will pass a waterfall, etc. This walk is really worth it! So make sure you don't forget your camera, because you want to capture this!

Nassfeld ski area in winter and hiking, downhill and climbing in summer

You can also enjoy yourself outside the ski season in the Nassfeld ski area of Carinthia. Various activities are organized here in the summer months and you can enjoy beautiful walks. Let yourself be taken up with the elevator and toboggan down again. Visit the climbing forest or the cheese farm. Do you have children? Then you can follow a fun route especially for children that is made extra interesting with various games. Looking for more adventure? You can also go mountain karting and cycle various MTB routes. It doesn't really matter what you do, because you will enjoy the beautiful view over Gaital anyway.

Poludnig

You can take a long (and fairly strenuous) walk at Poludnig. The tour is varied from forest paths to mountain paths and while walking you will encounter stray cows, horses and sheep. At the top you have a beautiful view and you look out over the whole valley. As a reward you can enjoy yourself afterwards at one of the cozy restaurants on Egger Alm.

Arnoldstein, the three country point

Being on the border of 3 countries at the same time? You do that at the 3 country point Arnoldstein. You do the first part of the climb with the elevator. Then you walk a bit further up and you are rewarded with a beautiful view of Italy and Slovenia. Due to its location, Arnoldstein is a melting pot of different peoples and therefore very nice to visit. Arnoldstein is a hiker's paradise, but there is also plenty to do here if you like a bit more adventure. How about gliding for example?

Villacher Alpe street

Do you fancy a nice tour by car? Then you can indulge yourself on the Villacher Alpenstrasse, a 16.5 km long road, which is one of the most beautiful Alpine routes in Austria. It is a challenging ride with 116 bends and 7 hairpin bends along the 2166 meter high Dobratsch and through the nature park of the same name. Along the way you will come across several parking lots with viewing platforms, so be sure to take your time for this route and get out regularly to enjoy the beautiful views. At the end of the ride you can walk up to the highest church in Europe, definitely worth a visit. There is also a cozy restaurant upstairs where you can enjoy a delicious meal while enjoying the spectacular view and the stray cows.

Bicycle tours

The avid cyclists can also indulge themselves in the vicinity of Gästehaus Pernull. There are many different cycling routes that you can take. For example, you can enjoy cycling along the Gail Radweg (R3).

Rafting, tubing or kayaking

For a fun challenge on the water, go to Rafting Carnica in Hermagor, where you can choose from rafting, kayaking and tubing. This incredibly fun family business ensures that you have a fantastic day on the water!

Velden am Wörthersee

A day of strolling, seeing and being seen? That is also possible. Visit the Wörthersee, a beautiful blue lake, where you can practice various water sports and/or relax. In addition, you will be amazed in Velden (especially on Sundays). Then the Jetset of Austria drives past in the most beautiful cars, from Ferraris, BMWs, Mercedes, Porsches, etc. Here is also the Schloss am Wörthersee.

The Spit Seal Group

Austria at its best is of course done by visiting one or more of the mountain tops of the Spitzegelgruppe. The Spit Seal Gruppe consists of the Graslitzen (1909), Vellacher Egel (2108) and the Spit Seal (2119), with the Spit Seal being the most dangerous of the three.

You can visit these mountain peaks separately, but it is also possible to do all three in one day. You will then be on the road all day (06:00 to 18:00).

Erlebnispark am Pressegersee

The Erlebnispark is a very nice adventure park, in the middle of nature where children will certainly not get bored. But there is also more than enough to do for adults. You can also rent a tram (water bike) or play mini golf on one of the 18 courses.
